Device Checkouts
Our libraries offer several devices that can be checked out.
These lending programs were assisted through a grant from the Georgia Public Library Service with federal pandemic funding from the State of Georgia Governor's Office, and is partially assisted with funds from the Library Services and Technology Act through the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Devices
All branches of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System offer Chromebooks for library users to check out. Chromebooks are laptop computers that run on Google's Chrome OS and require internet access. These laptops check out for seven days and include the device, power adapter/cord, and a carrying bag. Borrowers must be 18 years or older and sign a Statement of Responsibility before receiving the device.
All branches of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System offer mobile Hotspots for library users to check out. Hotspots are portable devices you can use to connect to the internet wherever you go. These items check out for 7 days. Library users must be 18 years or older to check out our wireless Hotspots and sign a Statement of Responsibility before receiving the device.
Library users 18 and older can check out Playaway Launchpads from our branches. Launchpads are guided learning tablets that combine apps, videos, and storybooks for a multimodal learning approach. These tablets are designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface, 100% secure, and cannot connect to Wi-Fi. Our library users currently have access to Pre-K, STEAM, and Reading Academy Launchpads.
- Pre-K Academy Launchpads give preschool-aged children 5 different paths to explore on their way to kindergarten.
- Reading Academy tablets help kids master verbal, reading, and writing skills.
- STEAM Academy tablets weave together the science, technology, engineering, art, and math skills learned in the classroom and connect them to things kids see every day.
