Children's Services
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a library partnership program with Georgia Public Library Services that encourages all families to read 1000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help to strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary, important tools for learning to read when they enter kindergarten. Participants can keep track of the books they read using Beanstack.

Makerspaces
A Makerspace is a place for hands-on learning with all of the tools that you will need to expand your creativity. These areas help you turn your ideas into real, tangible objects. Every Makerspace is unique and the projects that are worked on inside of them are diverse. While all of our branches offer STEAM and makerspace supplies, the Chattooga and Rome-Floyd County Libraries offer Makerspace areas. Check our calendar for Makerspace hours of operation.
Playaway Launchpads
All branches offer Playaway Launchpads, preloaded, guided learning tablets, for children. We carry Pre-K, STEAM, and Reading Academy Launchpads. For more information, visit our Device Checkouts page.
Teen Services
Book vs Movie
Both the Rockmart and Trion branches offer a Book vs Movie program. Each month, teens will choose a different title to read and then meet at the library to watch the film adaptation of the book. Afterwards, they will discuss the similarities and differences between the book and the movie.
Additional Services
Our libraries welcome teens and offer a variety of teen programs throughout the month. Programs typically consist of crafts, board games, movies, trivia, and more. While teen programs vary by branch location, the dates and times can be found on our calendar.
