Additional Services

ESL/Literacy

Georgia Northwestern Technical College provides ESL/Literacy classes onsite at the Rome-Floyd County Library. For more information, or to register for classes, visit GNTC's website.

Exam Proctoring
Each Sara Hightower Regional Library branch offers exam proctoring for a fee of $25. Please contact your local branch to request an appointment for this service. Valid identification will be required before the test is administered.

The library will provide a quiet place to take the exam, sign the appropriate paperwork, and return the paperwork as determined by the examining location.

GLS
Georgia Library Service (GLS) for the Blind and Print Disabled is a free braille and talking book library service for individuals who are blind or whose physical abilities require the use of books and magazines in audio, braille or other adapted formats.

Could someone you know benefit from reading materials in an accessible format? Visit your local branch or the GLS website for more information.

Interlibrary Loans

If there is a book you want that the library doesn’t own, we can request it for you from another PINES library. To search books in other PINES libraries, click here.

Type the title, author, or keyword in the “Search for” box, and select “PINES” in the “Search Within” box. Click “Search.” If you find an item you want, click “Place Hold.” You will be prompted to log in to your account. Once you are logged in, make sure your contact information and pickup location are correct, and place the hold. If you have issues performing any of these steps, call your local branch for assistance. If a book is not available in a PINES library, we can request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL requests generally have a small cost related to postage. To request an ILL, contact your local branch.

Study Rooms

Study rooms are available upon request during library hours on a first-come, first-served basis. Not all branches have study rooms available. A time limit for study rooms may be imposed if there is a wait for library users in need of use. Any conversation or digital volume in study rooms must be quiet enough so other patrons are not disturbed. No food or drinks are allowed.
